Before the Exam
- Check exam dates, times and locations (posted on the exam schedule page, in the Ram Reminder and around the school). Exam locations will be posted in the foyer the day of each exam.
- Note | Social Studies and English exams have two parts. - Check Calgary Transit route times or arrange for transportation.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the exam.
- Note | if you arrive later than 1 hour into the exam, you cannot enter the exam room. - Bring: photo ID (student ID card, driver’s license, passport) and necessary materials in a clear plastic bag such as a pencil, eraser, highlighter, pen, whiteout, one approved calculator, extra calculator batteries, a clear water bottle (no label) and snacks.
- For English/Social Studies Part A, you may bring an approved dictionary, thesaurus or handbook (Social Studies - p. 11; ELA - p. 12). These resources must be free of notes.
- Do not bring: coats, hats, hoodies, backpacks, digital devices (cellphones, smart watches, airpods etc.), pencil cases, calculator cases, notes or unapproved resources into the exam room.
- For Math/Science exams ensure your calculator is approved. Ask your teacher if you are unsure.
- Return all textbooks.
- Take care of yourself: dress comfortably, eat breakfast, drink water, and get a good night’s sleep.
Student Expectations | When Entering the Exam Room
- Have your photo ID (student ID, driver’s license, or passport) and exam materials ready to be checked by a supervisor at the door.
- For Math/Science exams, calculators will be cleared at the door and reset to factory settings.
- Find your seat but do not access the exam until instructed to do so by a supervisor.
- Place your photo ID face up on your desk.
Student Expectations | During the Exam
- Stay focused on your own work. Do not share your work or materials with others.
- Supervisors will escort students to the washroom as needed. Do not leave or enter the exam room without a supervisor’s permission.
- During the exam instructions, students will be asked one final time to bring any digital devices forward to be retrieved after the exam.
Student Expectations | When the Exam is Completed
- Once the exam is completed, raise your hand and wait for a supervisor to attend to you. Students may not hand in an exam until the 1-hour mark of the exam time has elapsed.
- All exam materials including scrap paper must be left in the exam room when finished.
- For Math and Science exams, supervisors will clear calculators and reset them to factory settings once more.
