The Student Services department includes: School Counsellors, Student Success Centre, Instructional Resource department, and the Off Campus Coordinator. CBE Services (specialists and psychologist) and Community Services are coordinated through this department as well.

Off Campus Coordinator

Central Memorial Off-Campus Education Programs are designed to help students recognize their special gifts, talents, skills and interests, by putting their education into a meaningful framework. Our programs play a vital role in assisting students’ transition into the workforce and post-secondary education. Students who participate in Off-Campus Education benefit by:

  • Learning and developing the knowledge and skills demanded by business, while enhancing their future employability.
  • Gaining valuable hands-on work-related experiences, that open up additional opportunities for future employment. the opportunity to gain insight to their career development options, which support successful transition from school to work and from school to a post-secondary institution.


Community Partnerships


AIFY (All in for Youth)

This is a partnership with The United Way. We work to support students who may have barriers in their lives, that make high school graduation challenging. “AIFY” offers free math tutoring. Representatives will visit classes within the first few weeks of each semester with information regarding the application process. The application form will look at: academic need, financial need, and motivation. If the student is successful, he/she will be contacted by the Success Coach, who will be overseeing the program.


In school Settlement Worker

The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) is a youth-centered and family-focused non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the well-being of newcomer children, youth and families. A settlement worker comes to the school as needed to support any youth struggling with the transition.


Brown Bagging It

Provides simple lunches and snacks for students needing nutritional support. Students can access this service during the noon hour via our Student Success Centre.


YMCA Tutoring Table Program

Trained youth are available at the CTCentre building of our campus every Tuesday from 4:30 - 6:30pm


The Alex Youth Health Bus

The Alex Youth Health Bus brings health care directly to youth who may otherwise face challenges accessing these services. The bus visits Central on Wednesdays every two weeks, including during exams. Staff on the bus use a holistic, compassionate approach to provide physical, emotional, psychological and social support for youth. Schedule and sign up is available through Student Services. (this is kept confidential)


CPS (Calgary Police Service)

Central has a part-time School Resource Officer (SRO) who is a member of Calgary Police Services. They can support students around law enforcement concerns and becomes involved in school related issues that may require police involvement.

Our students’ success is our top priority and we understand that our students live complex lives and that many factors both in school and outside of school can affect their ability to learn. The CBE offers a variety of services (such as Culture and Linguistic Support, Exceptional and Special Needs, and Psychological Services) to support students, their families and our school, so students can be successful learners.
