The Ram Reminder - February 23 - 27, 2026

Good Evening CMHS Parents, Caregivers, Students and Guardians,

Next week, Wednesday, February 25 is Pink Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day encourages people of all ages to wear pink as a visible symbol of kindness and inclusion, and to spark meaningful conversations about why bullying is harmful and how we can prevent it. The day began in Halifax in 2008, when two high school students responded to an act of bullying by organizing their peers to wear pink in support of a fellow student who was not being treated with kindness and respect. That simple act of compassion quickly spread beyond their school. Later that year, British Columbia proclaimed a provincial Anti-Bullying Day in February, and over time the idea of wearing pink to stand against bullying grew across Canada and internationally. Today, Pink Shirt Day is observed annually across the country on the last Wednesday of February.

Pink Shirt Day has become a national and global movement that encourages people to wear pink as a visible sign of support for kindness, inclusion, and respect; to raise awareness and start conversations about why bullying is harmful and what we can do to prevent it; and to support programs that help children and youth build healthy self-esteem, resilience, and safe environments. Each year, we recognize this day to honour acts of kindness and to reaffirm our shared commitment to creating welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful spaces for everyone in our school community. We invite all students and staff to wear pink on Wednesday as a reminder that our words and actions matter and that each of us plays a role in shaping a positive environment.

On a lighter note, this morning’s Olympic semifinal game between Canada and Finland felt like a “Heritage Match” in my household. With my mom being from Finland and my dad born here in Calgary, my cousins overseas were messaging me late into the evening in anticipation of the game. I arrived at school proudly wearing my Canada jersey, though I have to admit I might have put my Finnish jersey on for a while this morning until Canada got its act together.

Have a wonderful weekend. Go Canada Go.
