Dear Parents, Guardians, Caregivers, and Students,
This week has been an exciting celebration of all the incredible opportunities and programs at Central Memorial High School. Our Open House on Wednesday evening was a tremendous success, welcoming more parents and students than ever before. It was inspiring to see our teachers enthusiastically sharing the diverse programming available, from Career Skills and Trades to career counselling services and our Advanced Placement program—the second largest in the Calgary Board of Education, with plans to expand even further next year.
We also took great pride in highlighting our strong athletic presence in the city and our exceptional PVA (Performing and Visual Arts) program, which continues to be second to none. Excitement is building for upcoming student trips to New York City, Austria, and Germany, where students will experience world-class arts opportunities and explore the rich history of these regions.
Today, we had the privilege of hosting two world-class jazz musicians who led professional development sessions as part of our "Girls in Jazz" event—one of Canada's largest initiatives supporting women in traditionally underrepresented fields. Our theatre was also filled with honour band students from across the city, further showcasing our commitment to musical excellence.
Beyond our school walls, we continue to strengthen connections with our feeder schools and community partners. This includes music performances, Try-a-Trade events, athletic tournaments, theatre productions, and our recent co-hosting of Wordfest with the Calgary Public Library. These experiences create meaningful learning opportunities and foster a vibrant, engaged community.
At Central Memorial, we believe in lifelong learning, critical thinking, and community engagement—values that contribute to a healthy and dynamic city. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Anne Kromm
Principal
