Good Evening Parents, Caregivers, Students and Guardians

As we near the end of the exam period and the final stretch of the school year, it’s a fitting time for reflection on achievement, assessment, and equity. These final weeks are not just about finishing strong, but about looking back on the learning journey with purpose and clarity.

At the heart of our work is a foundational belief: assessment should not be used to rate, rank, sort, or discourage students. Rather, it should serve as a tool for growth. The most productive assessments are those designed for learning, not merely of learning. They are opportunities to provide students with meaningful feedback that guides them forward and helps them improve. This approach reminds us of an essential truth in education: that teachers and school leaders make a real difference in the lives of students when they focus on what matters most, relationships, equity, and continuous improvement.

In that spirit, our administrative team is currently meeting with each of our school's Learning Leaders for a year-end reflection. These conversations are focused on how each discipline has worked to sup- port meaningful and equitable assessment practices that truly reflect student learning. We are also dis- cussing how departments have attended to student well-being and how we can continue to build on those efforts next year to foster an even healthier, more inclusive learning environment.

Our teachers are also being invited to consider how they might design learning experiences that are intentionally responsive to the diverse identities, strengths, and needs of the students they serve.

Teaching is not merely the act of transmitting knowledge, it is an inherently collaborative, interactive, and relationship-based enterprise. The work of education is deeply human, and the administration at CMHS is proud of the thoughtful, student-centered work our staff has engaged in this year.

As always, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to finishing the year with gratitude and intention.

Enjoy your weekend and the much needed rain.
