Good Evening CMHS Parents, Caregivers, Students and Guardians
We continue to have exciting news to share with our Adopt-a-Shop program! This week, we’d like to highlight two incredible partnerships that are making a real difference for our students.
First, we are thrilled to welcome Korrina Warners, who will be the point person for Strike Group, supporting our Welding and Fabrication program. There is already strong interest within Strike for this partnership, and with Korrina leading the way, we know this program is in great hands.
We are also fortunate to be partnered with Alanah from Excel Homes, where she serves as an Assistant Construction Manager and an inspiring leader in the industry. This was one of the very first matches made through Adopt-a-Shop—and for good reason. Years ago, CMHS teacher Connor Flegg created a dedicated Women in Trades class, and it has been exciting to see the positive impact on students. Pairing that program with Alanah’s expertise and passion is a natural and inspiring fit.
This past week has also been National Coaches Week, and I want to take a moment to thank all of our volunteer teacher-coaches who give so much of their own personal time, expertise, and heart to our student athletes. Athletics has been such a huge part of my own life. I was fortunate to be a varsity athlete and later spent nine years coaching at the University of Calgary. When I look back at the doors that opened for me professionally, almost every one of them can be traced back to the connections I made, the mentors I had, and the lessons I learned as an athlete: how to work hard, how to be dedicated, and how to pursue excellence in everything I do.
Because of that experience, I know first-hand the difference a coach can make in a young person’s life. To all of our coaches here at CMHS, thank you. You are not just building teams; you are building character, confidence, and lifelong skills in our students. We are truly grateful for the energy and passion you bring to sport and to our school community.
Enjoy your weekend and the warm weather. You can find me on the golf course competing in fun against my former university teammates (I usually win Q).
