The Ram Reminder - March 20 - April 3, 2026
Good evening, CMHS Parents, Caregivers, Students and Guardians,
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our parents and guardians who took the time to come in and meet with our teachers over the past two days. I also enjoyed talking to many of you. These moments to connect are incredibly valuable. We know how important it is for families and schools to work together in supporting our students as they grow and mature in so many ways. As we all know, sometimes the story of what is happening at school can get slightly "modified" on the way home, so having adults connect directly with one another makes a meaningful difference.
Parent-teacher interviews are a powerful way to strengthen the partnership between home and school. They foster a collaborative relationship where communication is clear, consistent, and centered on student success. When parents and teachers are aligned in their goals and approaches, students are more motivated, more engaged, and ultimately more successful. These conversations also provide personalized insight into each child's academic, social, and emotional development, allowing us to identify needs early and respond with thoughtful, tailored support.
Adding to the significance of today, we also marked the arrival of the Spring Equinox at 8:46 this morning, officially welcoming the start of spring. The word "equinox" comes from Latin, meaning "equal night," symbolizing the balance of day and night, while spring itself represents something new and fresh. It feels especially fitting as we head into Spring Break – a time to rest, recharge, and embrace a change of pace.
I hope that each of you has something enjoyable planned, whether that means staying close to home, traveling to visit friends or family, or heading out on an adventure. I'll be spending time with loved ones, getting out on the golf course, attending a Keith Urban concert, and trying my hand at a craft evening with friends where we will be designing and making personalized doormats (we will see how that turns out!).
To round out this week, today is also the International Day of Happiness – a wonderful reminder to pause and reflect on the things that bring us joy. The first things that come to mind for me are my two amazing dogs: Karman, an 8-year-old chocolate lab, and Strawberry, a 9-year-old black lab. I grew up with Labrador Retrievers, and my dad even trained field trial award-winning black labs, so they have always held a special place in my life.
As many of you may know, spending time with dogs has real benefits. Petting a dog can reduce stress and boost happy hormones like oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine, while lowering cortisol levels. Even a few minutes can improve mood, lower blood pressure, and create a sense of calm and connection. There truly is nothing better than being greeted at the door by a happy dog at the end of the day.
Wishing all of our families a restful, joyful, and safe Spring Break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, March 30.
Enjoy,
Anne Kromm
Principal
